JAMB Releases New Date For 2020 Post UTME Screening Exercise

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) 2020/2021 post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening has been scheduled to commence in Nigeria’s higher institutions, starting from 7th September.

According to the newly released statement, the agreement was reached at a meeting between the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts of tertiary institutions on Monday, the 10th.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who is the current registrar of JAMB, made the announcement. The JAMB registrar disclosed that the screening would now hold between September 7th and November 18th.

Earlier this month, we reported that the JAMB management board had issued a guideline for all tertiary institutions to begin the admission process from 20th August.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede disclosed that the adjustment in the date would allow students to take the 2020 O’ level examinations to be able to participate in the screening exercise.

He said and I quote below:

“Presently, the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) commence the Senior School Certificate Examination on August 17, it will go on till September 7th.

Similarly, on September 21th or thereabout, NABTEB is already scheduled to start its examination that will go on till on the 15th of October, and immediately after that, the National Examination Council (NECO) commence their examintion on the 5th of November, and it ends November 18th.

The registrar further disclosed that this timetable is to ensure every candidate have peace of mind and face one examination at a time. According to the registrar, rather than making candidates run, particularly, when they will have to write their school certificate exam in different towns and quickly rush to university elsewhere for Post-UTME screening, it’s better to avoid such situations.

“For all academic institutions who will be writing their Post-UTME screening, note that it cannot be earlier than the 7th of September and it will be held twice – September 7 to October 4th, 2020, and then it will be held for the second time on the 18th of November to mop up those who are taking their school certificate examination.”
