JAMB Candidates angry and in tears as JAMB stop them from taking exams over lateness

More than 25 candidates who were affected by this directive weep profusely in FCT Abuja, as both candidates and parents blame board, say it confused candidates with multiple addresses when they print their slip.

However, the examination body management has refused to take the blame for it.

While some candidates may never have thought of this as an issue, some candidates are in tears as they were barred by JAMB from taking their scheduled examination because of lateness.

Some candidates who registered for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, have failed in their bid to participate in the JAMB examination, all because they arrived late for their examination after their scheduled time. Just for those who are not aware, the examination body divided candidates into three sections, 7 AM, 9 AM, and 11 AM-12 PM.

This happened at the Global Distance Learning Programme Institute, which is opposite the Ministry of Finance, Central Business District, FCT Abuja. These candidates who came late for their examination were barred from entering the examination hall for arriving some minutes late.

The development caused tension as both parents and the affected candidates engaged security who were sent to the examination center to keep it controlled. These security agents were also responsible for stopping these candidates from participating in the exercise.

However, the tension lessen a little, when the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, accompanied by JAMB’s registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede and some officials of board arrived to monitor the exercise beginning from the Global Distance Learning Programme Institute center.

The aggrieved parents and candidates who had waited while protesting their non-inclusion in the exercise because of lateness, were asked to wait aside for the government’s officials to carry out their assignment before taking any drastic action.

But their patience worn out when Echono and his team left without addressing their problems or looking for a solution to it. The affected candidates burst into tears and wept inconsolably when explaining the situation to Newsmen.
