Meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)
This is to clear the misconceptions behind this word, Waiver or Special Consideration in JAMB. What JAMB means when they say Waiver, is that there is an additional requirement for a particular course in a particular school.
Some courses do have general requirements. However, some insitution do have a special consideration for either O’level Requirement, UTME Subject Combination or Direct Entry Requirement, if your school / course falls into this catergory, please carefully read about this.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)
⇒ EVANGEL, UNIKINGS and AJAYI same as in Microbiology.
⇒ NTNU requires Mathematics, Biology and any other Science subjects.
⇒ FUTA accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.
⇒ LEM and ABUAD require Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
⇒ NTNU – Same as in Computer Science.
⇒ MOUNTAIN TOP accepts Chemistry and two (2) of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.
⇒ FED-LOKOJA accepts Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics/Physics.
O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR BIOLOGY
This is officially pulled from the JAMB Brochure requirement for all O’level students seeking for admission.
You are required and expected to have Five (5) or six (6) SSC credit passes at one (1) or two (2) sittings in the following subjects listed below;
⇒ English Language,
⇒ Mathematics and other relevant subjects.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)
⇒ UNIKINGS, GOUU and AJAYI same as in Microbiology
⇒ KUST accepts ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science.
⇒ GSU accepts ‘O’ level pass in Physics.
⇒ EDWIN CLARK and UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any other Science subject at notmore than two (2) sittings
⇒ KASU only accepts Physics or Geography as the other Science subject.
⇒ NTNU accepts English Language, Mathematics, Biology and any other two (2) Science subjects.
⇒ FUTA requires five (5)’ O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science
⇒ MINNA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject. At least ’O’ level pass in Physics is required.
⇒ EVANGEL – Same as in Microbiology.
⇒ KSUSTA requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology and any two (2) of Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Geography and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings.
⇒ ABUJA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other Science subject.
⇒ MOUNTAIN TOP accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
⇒ FED-DUTSINMA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one (1) of Physics, Geography, Health Science or Agricultural Science. ‘O’ level pass in Physics will be accepted.
⇒ FED-LOKOJA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR BIOLOGY
Are you a Direct Entry (D.E) student who would love to continue schooling in any of the below mentioned Universities?
Here is the official JAMB Direct Entry requirements.
Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from these subjects;
♦ Geography,
♦ Chemistry,
♦ Geology,
♦ Physics,
♦ Mathematics,
♦ Zoology,
♦ Botany or Biology.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)
⇒ MINNA accepts Physics. It also accepts NCE credit, ND/HND lower credit plus the UTME requirements into 200 and 300 levels respectively.
⇒ LAGOS requires Biology but does not accept NCE.
⇒ EBSU accept NCE credit, ND/HND lower credit plus the UTME requirements into 200 level.
⇒ UNIKINGS, AJAYI and CRUTECH – Same as in Microbiology.
⇒ KUST accepts ND/NCE or relevant qualification upper credit/merit in Biology, Health Science/ Zoology or Botany.
⇒ AL-HIKMAH accepts NCE passes.
⇒ CUAB accepts ND in relevant programmes.
⇒ UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and any of Biology/Agricultural Science or Geography or Computer Studies at not more than two (2) sittings.
⇒ FUTA expects applicants to possess in addition to (a) above ‘A’ level or equivalent in two (2) of the following subjects: Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics. ND upper credit from a recognized institution in Science Laboratory Technology, Science Technology, Food Technology, Food Microbiology or related programmes are also eligible for admission.(x) GOUU and EVANGEL – Same as in Microbiology.
⇒ CRUTECH accepts ND/HND lower credit in Biology, Biotechnology, Zoology, Microbiology, Botany, Laboratory Science, or related programmes plus the UTME requirement.
⇒ KSUSTA requires ‘A’ level/NCE, IJMB or equivalent in Biology and Technical Drawing or Chemistry, Geography or Physics in addition to ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics or Physics. It also accepts ND/HND credit in relevant programmes.
⇒ NTNU – Same as in Computer Science.(xiv) ABUJA accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Biology, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry or Physics. Or NCE minimum 10 points and ND upper credit in relevant programmes.
⇒ MOUNTAIN TOP requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Chemistry and any one (1) of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. It also accepts ND and HND at minimum of credit for 200 and 300 levels respectively.
⇒ EDSU requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Biology, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry or Physics. NCE credit and ND.
⇒ FED-DUTSINMA requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Botany/Zoology/Biology and Chemistry. Also accepts ND/NCE with good grades in any relevant programme.
